My husband Beau sent me a link to a rather interesting and in-depth article that was the cover story for this week's TIME magazine. It is titled "The Love Him, Hate Him President," and it talks about how split the country is over their feelings for Bush, as well as talking about how divided we have become as a country between Dems and Reps. I found it fascinating: http://www.time.com/time/covers/1101031201/story.html

Greenpeace's website is a great place to keep tabs on environmental issues: http://www.greenpeaceusa.org/.

But also a great place to take action on the recent criminal charges against Greenpeace brought by the Justice Department. I'm likely the only one just hearing about this, but if you need more info or just want to take action in some way, check out their website. Note that you can send a form letter or compose your own and it will be sent to Bush, Ashcroft & Wray.

Think it would be good to include in Blog terms we come across that are good for us to be able to understand. There's an expression Paul Krugman wrote in his Tuesday column, "Starve the beast". He uses it in terms of a strategy the Bush administration has always had to not be fiscally responsible, to run up a debt to deliberately put large scale public programs at risk (social security, medicare) so it makes it necessary to turn to private options. Krugman's columns are great. Column on Tuesday & Fridays

Found a great organization and web site for keeping track of certain issues--public education, religious freedom, independent judiciary, civil rights, and constitutional liberties. I found it when researching where we are now on nominating federal and Supreme Court justices and was able to send several emails to Senate leaders about opposing certain nominations

The organization is called "People for the American Way" and the website is http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx.

oops; didn't mean to click post and publish.

I found the following web site:

http://www.dnet.org/

It's not filled in yet with any issues, but looks like it will be just what you're looking for when it is.
Gayna, I totally agree with your feelings about how our workplaces are set up and how women operate ...

Also, in response to your wanting to know where the candidates stand on all those issues, I found the following web site:

I've added some Take Action links to the sidebar. It's satisfying to be able to go to one of these sites and be given enough information to take action. A small gesture but it all counts.
